Because I can
I don’t sleep nights in a row
Just searching in my soul
Reasons to keep me going
Because I can
I don’t close my eyes to sleep
Just to imagine a better life
Reasons to keep me going
Because I can
I don’t wait for a new sunrise
Just expecting a light to arrive
Reasons to keep me going
Because I can
I do believe it is possible
To keep my eyes open and see
Reasons to keep me going
Because I can
I do sleep only when I want
Have in my soul peace and quiet
Reasons to keep me going
Because I can
I do walk through life as a blessing
Opening my arms to a brand new day
And reasons to keep me going

AGING PARASITES
And then, there they are
Those who can and those who don’t
Those who walk and those who won’t
Those who talk and those who are silent
Those who are stiff and those who are shaky
Those who are here and those who are gone.
And then, there they are
Awaiting for a blessed soul or maybe an angel
To take their breath away and be liberated
Because they all need some kind of help
Someone to help them to eat
Someone to help them to communicate
Most of them to help them to move
But they are still alive
As a part of a system that consumes itself
Doing nothing more than surviving their pain
They all know they will be better off dead, but they are afraid
And nobody would kill them, it wouldn’t be fair
But unfair to whom?
Not unfair to them
Unfair to that same system than needs them alive
The pill that keeps them surviving
Who cares if they can’t walk, talk or sniff
Who cares if they are even thinking
And then, there the are
After so many years of hard work
After so much lived, so much loved
Ending like this, one by one falling apart
Not without a last attempt to keep them alive
Let me go, please let me go -
They are screaming inside
But the system won’t, the system can’t
The system must keep them all alive
And that’s that, for as long as they can
It doesn’t matter if they really want.
Those who can and those who don’t
Those who walk and those who won’t
Those who talk and those who are silent
Those who are stiff and those who are shaky
Those who are here and those who are gone.

THE VISION
What do Napoleon, Beethoven and Cleopatra have in common?
Why do their faces showed up in the middle of the night without invitation
Why does the great Alexander stare at me
And Shakespeare keeps acting like it is all part of his play
While Cervantes points to a blank paper that awaits my writing
I moved you, asleep as you were, beside me
I slowly uncovered my naked body
And while I got out of the bed I stepped over the dog
Who bites my arm softly, as a reminder that he sleeps there
Then I walk out of the bedroom, close the door behind me
And go into the dark with bright eyes
Like a cat, I like to walk the hallway in the night
I have the strange feeling I can see without even opening my eyes
I want to write about my vision before I forget the ghosts’ message
I know I will fall asleep and I won’t remember a thing tomorrow
But I’m tired and you are sleeping
I don’t want to wake you
I’d better stay in bed, I decided
A long day awaits me tomorrow and I’m tired
Napoleon, Beethoven and Cleopatra are leaving, looking at each other
With great frustration they shake hands
Alexander The Great was already gone
Shakespeare and Cervantes pick up their books and papers
They also leave without looking back
And i finally fall asleep beside your naked body
Knowing that I won’t remember a thing tomorrow
And that the message, whatever it was, will be gone forever.

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU KNOW
What do you do when you know:
That you have more to give, more to experience, more to fulfill?
What do you do when you know:
Most pages in your book are still empty,
When the path ahead of you is much longer than the one behind;
There are doors yet to be opened, and more trees to be planted?
What do you do when you know:
Your magical song is not yet finished,
Your painting is still lacking numerous colors,
Though your heart is filled with them?
What do you do when you know:
That your time is running short,
Your calendar has lost a few years,
Your days no longer consist of twenty four hours,
And your hours are getting shorter with every passing day?
What do you do when you know?
That you have more to give, more to experience, more to fulfill?
What do you do when you know:
Most pages in your book are still empty,
When the path ahead of you is much longer than the one behind;
There are doors yet to be opened, and more trees to be planted?

BORN INTO ROYALTY
Where is that blue blood coming from?
Ink used to write your history
Your past, your imaginary glory
Rivers of fluid that kills everyday
Then you born again. like a Phoenix
Where is that blue blood coming from?
Naked revealing liquid, nectar of your non-life
You seduced me with your royalty
I could never see your eyes
Slowly but surely you approached me
Breathing over my neck when I fell apart
Furious when I was smiling again
Patient ever since
Waiting in a silence that I can always hear
Where is that blue blood coming from?
A black robe without shape you wore
A silver weapon forever sharp
You never looked directly at me
But you were always close, too close
Tempting destiny to take my air away
To combine your blood with mine and win the battle
The moment of expectation when I was at the crossroads
Ready to jump me at my slightest distraction
Gambling with my tortured feelings when I had no answers
Clouding the light in my darkest times
Where is that blue blood coming from?
Exalted when blooming my heart with thorns
My chest getting smaller
My soul tried to abandon me a little
And you . . . there, queen of the night
Waiting for that precise moment of quiet loneliness
Tapping out the minutes, the hours never short
Getting even closer when I lost all my hope
Where is that blue blood coming from?
Don’t get closer anymore
My blood is still red and keeps circulating
And my heart is palpitating with passion and love.

DON’T LOOK BACK, PLEASE DO
A step ahead of what you were
Way behind you left your old life
The missing part brings mixed feelings
The good, the bad, the beautiful, the ugly
All of that is gone
There is some pain for not having what you had
Some sweetness flavoring revenge
Melancholic moments with good memories
Rage for the loss, of some suffering of the past
Don’t look back, but please do
Do remember things that helped you grow
People supporting your ideas
Those lucky moments when you found happiness
Don’t look back, but please do
Do remember the stones moved out of your way
That light at the end of the tunnel
The hand which aided you moving towards your desires
The smile that made your day
Don’t look back, but please do
It was the same bright future
Waiting for you from the beginning
Familiar faces who helped you along your way
Lines, images, books and songs
Your life still building a promising bliss
Don’t look back, but please do
When it helps you to understand your inside much better
When it reminds you how far you have come
When you need an incentive to keep going
When it is time for a balance of your entire life
Don’t look back, but please, please do.
