IT’S ONLY A TREE

It is just a tree
It doesn’t matter that it takes me back in time
When as a kid my father opened that door
Coming back from Grandma’s house
It was snow white but with new bright colors
Inviting a party in the living-room.
It is just a tree
It doesn’t matter that it was very absent
For a bunch of years, maybe more
Everywhere in the city there was one for me to remember
All the things that they meant for everybody else.
The one who postponed those happy feelings
Because I just thought it was just a tree
The one that was there when I was very empty
No matter how beautiful, how colorful it was
It was just too painful to watch and to live around it
When he packed and moved far, far away.
It is just a tree
Now more than forever
My life is so big that I can hardly see
One more ornament I can get every year
To celebrate and be thankful for what I have and can be
But it’s only a tree.
